What is PDFer ?

PenguinPDFer is an application for creating PDF documents from reports received when you play any of several Play-By-(E)mail games run by Software Simulations, Ab Initio Games, and Kage Interactive.

PDFer works in essentially the same way as the SSI Printer software, but instead of sending your emailed-report to your printer, a PDF document is created instead.

Having a PDF document allows you to have your reports collection filed neatly away in a folder on your computer, rather than a stack of binders taking up lots of room somewhere. Of course, you are still free to print out your PDFs!

PDFer uses the same tried and tested rendering engine as gp_vcon - the renound Gameplan statistics and play-by-play utility.

Does it have any cool Features ?

There are two options for the style of text you can have in your PDF :

You can also choose to have PDFer automatically open the generated PDF in your default PDF viewer.

For more information, check out the documentation.

What are the System Requirements?

There are currently versions of PDFer for Windows, Mac OS X, and x86 Linux.

For Windows : 98, ME, NT, 2000, XP

For Mac : OS X 10.1, 10.2 (Jaguar), 10.3 (Panther)

For Linux: any x86 Linux with minimum glibc 2.3.x and gtk 2.x. (e.g. RedHat 8/9, Fedora Core, SuSe, Mandrake etc..)

You will of course also require software to view the PDFs. If you don't think you have anything suitable, you might like to try Acrobat Reader from Adobe. On Mac OS X you can also use the built-in "Preview" application.

How do you say PDFer ?

PDFer is pronounced, "PDF" - "er".

What's the cow all about ?

The cow's name is Heffer. But you can call her Ms Cow.
